It's really important, ya know? You really have to look out for yourself. I know it's great to pour yourself into your work, your relationships, your music, what have you, but you really need to take care of yourself too. There's so many different ways to do this, but I just thought I would share some of my favorites.
1. Music
I'm a huge music fan. Sometimes when I am really stressed out, I find it helps to just go for a drive and turn my music up really loud and sing along. Or, putting on some of my favorite records and just sitting against a speaker and letting it fill up your entire mind, pushing out all of the darkness and bad junk. It's like brain drano.
2. Food/Drink
Sometimes, having a really delicious meal is just the thing to boost your spirits. Take yourself on a date. Drink a lot of tea! Eat some really healthy stuff. Indulge. Just eat something. Nourishing your body can have a very beneficial effect on your headspace. While getting blackout drunk and forgetting all your problems may seem really tempting, I find that in the end it turns out being fairly counterproductive (and, you'll feel like shit in the morning!). But at the same time...
3. Friends
Get out of your house! Do it! It's really hard sometimes, but just calling a friend and talking sometimes will give you a bit of a boost. Going and hanging out is even better, because it allows you to distract yourself for a while. Try making new friends! Or, if you're shy like me, stick to your tried-and-true buds. You won't seem a burden on them. In fact, I'm sure they'll be glad you finally called them for once!
4. Pets
Pet a cat (or dog). 'Nuff said.
5. Pamper Yourself
Take a long, warm bubble bath. Go for an invigorating run. Buy yourself something nice. Get dressed up for no reason. Read a book that you've been meaning to for a while. Eat a whole cake to yourself. You're the bomb diggity, you deserve it
6. Eliminate Toxic Relationships
Does someone make you feel like you're not super-duper? Try to stay away from people like that. Do you feel like someone's just using you for something? Practice saying "no", there's nothing wrong with it. Don't waste your time on downers!
